Baby Wraps

I am not a baby wearer, but I could be. I started out trying to wear Gabriel with my Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. He cried every time I put him in it and he always looked VERY uncomfortable and just scrunched up. I’m sure I was doing it wrong, but when you have a wailing baby I tend to just stop trying whatever it is that is making them cry. My sweet sister-in-law (SIL) pointed me to this site and information a couple of months ago. I still haven’t used it, but as you can see in the picture above, she has! With Nathaniel wanting me to hold him as much as he has lately, I’m wondering if I need to figure out the hip carry for toddlers.
This is by no means a full extensive list of all of the options there are out there, I’m just going to point you to some great sites and options and mainly focus on wraps.
- Everything you ever needed to know about baby wearing can be found here.
- Make your own wrap for super cheap! My SIL did for $5!! (no sewing either!!)
- Instructions for how to use your wrap
- Some wearing positions
I really like the hip and back carry for toddlers. I’m thinking that would work very well for me when I’m trying to cook dinner and Nathaniel will not let go of my legs. The back carry scares me just a bit because I would hate for him to fall out backward onto our very hard floor. I’m not sure why I have that fear, after living in China for two years and seeing ladies carrying their babies and toddlers on their backs everywhere they went. I guess I’d just rather be safe than sorry.
